Range Rules

Basic safety rules

Always treat your gun as if it were loaded.

Even if it is unloaded, observe the same discipline.

Muzzle awreness or toward the target- never at object or people.

Down or toward the target — never at people.

Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

Controlling the trigger reduces the risk of accidental discharge.

Use hearing and eye protection.

PPE is mandatory in all shooting areas.

Basic safety rules

If a misfire occurs or the shotgun malfunctions:

Keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction.

Do not attempt to fix the problem yourself.

Contact the RSO or instructor.

Rules of conduct on the range

Follow the instructions of the RSO and instructors.

They are responsible for the safety of all shooters on the line.

Only load your shotgun on the firing line.

Move between stations with an unloaded gun, open action, or broken muzzle pointed in a safe direction.

Follow the shooting order.

Be aware of what field or station you are told to shoot at. We are here to help

Do not shoot if a cone is present

Red lines and markers define the safe area.

General rules of conduct

Respect other shooters and maintain a working pace.

wait until shooting is done then pick up empty shells.

Shotgun requirements

The barrel of the gun must be 26" or longer, exceptions will be made for 410 and 20 gauge youth models.

We allow pump action, semi automatic, over/under, side by side & single shot shotguns.

Gauge allowed on the range are: 12, 20, 28 & 410

Use of ammunition on the range

No loose ammo accepted

Do not mix cartridges of different calibers.

Store ammunition in its original packaging or a secure container.

we keep a credit card and drivers license on file in the event of any incidentals occur.

Ammunition restrictions

All non members are required to purchase range ammunition and members must follow restrictions.

7 1/2, 8 or 9 shot lead only.

No 12 gauge ammo faster than 1250 fps on the American trap and skeet fields.

All violators will be held liable for damages when shooting.

Prior to shooting all reloads must be tested.

No exceptions!

Please ask for clarification on Factory shells and reloads before shooting.

Reloading Policy

All reloads must be tested and approved. RSP provides this service at no cost to help protect our mandated Shot Stop Curtains You must have a reloading card that shows the recipe and FPS of your ammo with your name and date and staff signature. Must have reloads checked after changing recipe and annually on August 1st.

Final note

These rules help to create a safe environment in which everyone can train with confidence and focus. Compliance with the rules is a prerequisite for visiting the shooting range.
