Sporting Clays

A field course simulating real hunting scenarios — every station brings a new challenge.

Sporting Clays

Clay Target Variety

Sporting Clays offers a variety of stations—usually 10–15 or more—located on natural terrain: among trees, hills, ponds, and clearings.

Unlike more formal disciplines such as trap and skeet, Sporting Clays simulates hunting conditions: clay targets are launched at different angles and speeds, soaring upward, veering off to the side, crossing paths, or rolling along the ground.

At each station, shooters (usually in groups of 5–6 people) perform a series of shots: single targets and pairs — simultaneous, delayed, or “on-report.”

One round includes approximately 50–100 targets — the number depends on the number of stations and the format. This approach creates a dynamic, hunting-like experience with constantly changing conditions and tasks.

FAQ’s

It is a clay pigeon shooting discipline in which the course consists of multiple stations—10 to 15 or more—with a variety of target launches to mimic hunting as closely as possible.

Unlike Trap and Skeet, which use fixed target presentations from set angles or houses, Sporting Clays features varying target trajectories, speeds, and presentations across a course. Each station is unique, designed to mimic different field and hunting shots — from crossing and incoming targets to lofted or rolling targets — offering more variety and unpredictability than the other disciplines.

A standard Sporting Clays round generally includes about 50–100 targets, depending on the number of stations and the course format. Courses usually list the number of targets per station so shooters know what to expect.

Sporting Clays uses a variety of clay targets that differ in size, speed, and flight path to replicate different hunting scenarios. This can include targets that fly high, cross wide, curve upward or downward, and even “rabbit” targets that roll along the ground — all designed to create realistic and challenging shots.
